Vacation is officially over and it’s time to do taxes. It’s not very hard to do, but it’s a challenge right now because I spent the last week enjoying the sights, sounds, and tastes of Italy!
Take a look:
We stayed at Boscolo Exedra Hotel near Termini Station in Rome. It has a lot of old world charm and is very close to Termini Station (super convenient for taking trains to other cities).
As you can see, the building is held up by very old beams.
We enjoyed eating at Il Nido del Pettrissso near the station. It’s a quaint restaurant with some traditional and modern Roman dishes. Super good food!
In Florence, we stayed at Palazzo di Camugliano. It’s on a small street near Firenze Santa Maria Novella station, but don’t let that fool you. The inside is SPECTACULAR. The room we stayed in bigger than my entire home! I HIGHLY recommend this place if you don’t mind spending a few extra bucks.

If you’re looking for a 5 star dining experience in Florence, we had a lot of fun at La Bottega Del Buon Caffe. It’s a 1 star Michelin rated restaurant. My partner and I shared a lot of chuckles. I didn’t take any pictures because I was too busy enjoying the moment.
It’s like dining in a pottery barn catalog and being served by SUPER OBSESSIVE COMPULSIVE waiters. We weren’t allowed to pour our own water and the breadbasket was refreshed with new bread, so it wouldn’t get cold! I almost got in “trouble” for using the bathroom because the maître d was very concerned that I wouldn’t make it back for the next course. I did, so all was well. Another diner tried to go to the bathroom but was asked to sit back down! I’ve been to fancy restaurants before and this one out shined them all.
The food was superb and the service was very entertaining. We had a six course tasting menu full of rich food like veal, pigeon, and lamb. We sat right next to the kitchen and saw all the food being prepared. There were lots of squeeze bottles and tweezers involved for all the tiny details. I learned what “pre-dessert” was. It’s the first dessert before the next two! What?! Three courses of desserts! Mind blown.
On our last day, we got up at 4 am to get to the airport. Behind me at the front desk, there was a woman with big hair. When she spoke, there was no doubt about who she was. Macy Gray!
From start to finish, we had a very memorable trip to Italy.
Time to retire my neck pillow until the next trip.
